Back again! It's been almost a week and what a week it was.
Right now, I am watching it snow the biggest snowflakes I have ever seen, they are bigger than 1/2 dollars! It is beautiful! We have had our fair share of snow this year but none like this. Been snowing about an hour and already have an inch on the ground. I see a snow day in my future! Yay!! You probably think I'm crazy because we have to make up those days but I love snow days!! With putting 4 kids on the bus, I would rather do it in warm weather than cold snowy weather.
Last week was one of those weeks! Last Monday Chance & Sophie had there 9 mo. check-up. Both are doing great, growing like weeds, and no shots-Yay again! The only thing the Dr. seen was that Chance's head was big. We already knew it was big but he had went off the growth curve this checkup. So she ordered a sedated CT for his head. The nurse aide in me starts to freak a lil. I know it's probably nothing but I've also seen the other side. I've seen the kid that had gastro symptoms and is dead in a week from a brain tumor. I know too much of what can happen. So, yes, lets do this ASAP! Ended up because he still has a little bit of soft spot we didn't need to do the CT, were able to ultrasound his head through the soft spot. Dr. Kriss through Central Baptist hospital did it and she was amazing. Have only heard good things about Dr. Kriss.
Also, last Wednesday the twins got ear tubes! Yay again! Ear tubes are awesome for kids that need them and they both needed them. They did great with no complications. Doug was able to be off work and go with us and my mom took off work and stayed here with the other kids and got everybody off to school, etc.
The babies are sitting up so much more and Sophie is starting to crawl forwards now. They are just getting so big!
Colin was here this weekend for one night. He and Wesley made the move. They are moving upstairs. If you know my house you'll understand this. We have a mother-in-laws apt. over our garage. It was only accessible through the garage but we have now connected it (Doug doing all the handy work) and opened it up. I think Wesley will hibernate up there away from the girls!
The weather was warmer on Sunday and most everyone played outside a lil after church. They always have so much fun outside.
We finally made it back to church on Sunday. Victory Life is awesome! We missed so much lately because of sick kids, and no I don't take my sick kids to church. God knew we needed to be at this service, it hit right at home. We started a new series Dreamworks. It's about realizing your dreams and doing what it takes to make them happen. I really needed that. Yes, I dream of being a RN, but I've got to get into nursing school first. I've been dragging my feet a lil in that area, so I've got to get back on that horse and make it happen. Another dream of ours is to adopt. We know we can give needy children a great home and a great family. We've got to work harder on that also. That will be a long drawn out process, even before applying we've got many ducks to get in a row to make that happen. Not to mention all the dreams we have for our children and our family. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
I am following 3 blogs of friends that are adopting. One adopted from China almost a year ago. The other two are in Africa right now bringing home their children. I am so happy for them! They are beautiful families.
Friday night Anna & Emma went to a birthday party. It was actually a sleepover party. They didn't stay to sleepover, sorry but kindergarten is too young for sleepovers. But, anyway they enjoyed.
Busy moms-new crockpot recipe-
Sweet & Sour chicken
6-8 boneless, skinless breast, frozen
1 bottle Catalina dressing
1 10oz. jar apricot preserves
1 pkg. onion soup mix, dry
put all in a crock-pot and cook on low 6-8 hrs.
I served over rice, really good and the kids liked it too!
With having 8 kids, there are so many chances for things like Chances ultrasound to go wrong. I know God has my children in his hands, he is watching over them. I just count my blessing and don't take them for granted. I thank God everyday for healthy children. With working at the hospital I get to see so much of what can happen. God is always watching over us getting us through everything.
Last week was also the anniversary of my grandmothers death. Lord how I've missed her. Seems like yesterday the girls were jumping behind the chair where she kept the balloons for the kids and she would balloon fight with Emma. She loved watching these kids grow and hearing all the stories, at least the ones we told her. They still speak of her occasionally, I just hope those memories don't fade.
